Terms of Use

The terms you accept by using this site: the calculators are free estimates built from published DWP rates, they are not advice, and they are not a DWP decision.

Section 1

Accepting these terms

By using universalcreditcalculator.co.uk you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. We may update them, and the version published here at the time you use the site is the one that applies.

Section 2

What this site is

A free set of Universal Credit calculators and guides, provided for personal use. There is no charge, no sign-up and no account. You may use the results for your own purposes, including to check a Universal Credit statement or to plan around a change in your circumstances.

Section 3

What this site is not

It is not the Department for Work and Pensions and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to DWP, GOV.UK or any government body. It is not a benefits adviser, and using it creates no adviser relationship. Nothing here is financial, legal or welfare rights advice for your particular situation.

Section 4

Estimates, not decisions

Every figure is an estimate produced by applying published rates to the answers you give. Only DWP can decide what you are entitled to. A result here can differ from your award for reasons the tool cannot see:

  • A sanction, or a deduction for an advance, arrears or an overpayment
  • Earnings reported by your employer for a different period than you expected
  • Capital, income or a household change that has not been reported
  • A decision still pending, such as a Work Capability Assessment

Section 5

Accuracy and how we maintain it

Every rate the calculators use is read from a single file of published DWP figures, and the same file feeds every rate table on the site, so a number in the prose cannot disagree with the number the tool used. Each page shows the date its figures were last checked. We correct errors when we find them or when they are reported, but we do not warrant that any figure is accurate, current or fit for a particular purpose.

Section 6

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from a decision made on the basis of a result shown here, from an error or omission in the figures, or from the site being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Check anything that matters against GOV.UK, your Universal Credit statement, or a welfare rights service before acting on it.

Section 7

Intellectual property

The calculators, guides, wording and design are ours. You may read, print and share pages for personal or advisory use, and quote from them with a link back. You may not republish the content in bulk, present it as your own, or copy the calculator logic into another site or product without permission.

Section 8

Linked sites

We link to GOV.UK, legislation.gov.uk and other external sources so you can check our figures against the original. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or availability.

Section 9

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. Questions about them go to contact@universalcreditcalculator.co.uk.
