Universal Credit Calculator operates the website universalcreditcalculator.co.uk. This policy explains what happens to information when you use the calculators and guides, and what rights you have over it under UK GDPR. It applies to this website only, not to any site we link to.

Nothing. Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your income, rent, savings, health condition, household make-up and every other answer you give stay on your device. They are not transmitted to us, not written to a server, not logged, and not retained after you close the tab. There is no account, no sign-up and no saved history, which also means we cannot recover a calculation for you later.

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used in aggregate. It records ordinary web analytics, none of which identifies you personally and none of which includes anything you typed into a calculator:

• Pages viewed and how long was spent on them
• Country, from an IP address that Google Analytics anonymises
• Device type, browser and operating system
• How you arrived, for example a search engine or a link

Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working and are set regardless. Google Analytics runs on every page and sets its own cookies to tell repeat visits from new ones. The first time you visit, a short notice says so; pressing OK hides it, and your browser's local storage remembers that so it does not reappear. If you would rather not be counted, use a browser setting or extension that blocks analytics scripts. Where adverts run, the advertising partner and the companies it works with use cookies and similar technologies too, as the advertising sections below explain. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the calculators will still work normally because they do not depend on them.

We keep this list short deliberately, and it is complete. If we add a service we will name it here and change the date at the top of this page.

• Google Analytics 4, for aggregated traffic analysis
• Our hosting provider, which processes standard server request logs
• An advertising partner and the companies it works with, to serve adverts where they run

The calculators and guides are free, and the site may show display adverts to keep them that way. Adverts are managed by an advertising partner together with the companies it works with. We do not choose individual adverts, and we never pass anything you type into a calculator to an advertiser.

• Where adverts run, the partner and the companies it works with use cookies and similar technologies to show adverts, measure them and, if you allow it, tailor them to you.
• Visitors in the UK and Europe are asked for consent in a notice before any cookie is used to personalise adverts. If you say no, you can still see adverts, but they are chosen from the page you are reading rather than from data about you.
• Our lawful basis for advertising cookies and personalised adverts is your consent. Some partners rely on legitimate interests for parts of their work, such as measuring adverts and preventing fraud, and you can object to that in the same notice.
• You can withdraw consent at any time. Clearing this site's cookies and site data in your browser brings the notice back so you can answer again.
• The advertising partner and the companies it works with decide for themselves how advertising data is used, so their own privacy policies apply to it. They are listed on the partners page linked in the next section.

We do not sell the personal information we hold, and we do not build profiles of visitors ourselves. Advertising data is collected by the advertising partner and the companies it works with under their own policies, as described above. Because the calculators send nothing to a server, we hold no record of any benefit calculation anyone has ever run on this site.

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of any personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict how it is used, or object to it being used at all. You can also withdraw consent to personalised adverts at any time, as the advertising section explains. In practice we hold very little, because the calculators are client side. Email [email protected] to make a request and we will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

This site is aimed at adults making or managing a Universal Credit claim and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

The site is served over HTTPS on every page. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, but since the calculators transmit nothing, there is very little to intercept.
